| Over
the next four years, Habitat for Humanity of Greater
Lowell (HFHGL) will create a neighborhood of eight
energy efficient, affordable homes at 130 North
Road in Bedford, Mass. One of the units will be
the renovation of a historic farmhouse. The remaining
seven units will be new construction.
The
Bedford project, the largest and most comprehensive
HFHGL project to date, will set the stage for
many new initiatives and programs. HFHGL has implemented
a new “green building” policy, which
requires all HFHGL homes to now be certified under
the Leadership
in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green
Building Rating System™. In addition
to building greener, HFHGL is planning to provide
several unique sponsorship and volunteer opportunities,
including a Women Build, a Faith Build, and a
Collegiate Build.
The
Bedford Local Partnership (BLP), a group of caring
Bedford residents, have committed to seeing the
Bedford project become a success.
The BLP does
this by helping in the following areas:
|
 |
Family
Selection & Support |
 |
Fundraising
& Public Awareness |
 |
Building
& Site Preparation |
 |
Volunteer
Coordination & Support |
